I was first introduced to military combative fighting at a very young age by my step-father whom was a double-tour U. S. Army SOG Vietnam veteran – (hard-core as they come). Needless to say, my introduction to the overall concepts of armed/unarmed combative fighting was geared more toward a viciously efficient no-nonsense, reality-based, hard-core, approach: – i.e., the K.I.S.S. method. He taught what he knew would work garnered from his rather extensive (first-hand) combat experiences he’d survived in the dangerous jungles of Vietnam. I personally entered active duty service in the U. S. Army Infantry in 1979 -1984. During this time period I was certified in many skills related to my MOS. One of the many skills I was to be certified in teaching was the U. S. Army’s armed/unarmed combative skill set.
I officially started my journey in the formal martial arts in the art of Tai Kempo Karate; becoming an assistance instructor in 1984. I taught the art of Tai Kempo until the latter-part of 1987; at which point I moved to the state of Michigan. I made the personal choice of dropping out of the formal martial arts scene because of the “internal political strife” that I witnessed senselessly infecting the martial arts culture here in the United States. I based my decision upon the teachings’ my step-father had instilled in me as a young man concerning the (core concepts) of true physical combat and how one approached it as an individual. I am presently still a student of the combative fighting methods of Arwrology, Combato, and Defendu, as taught by their respective creators. (I train privately and with others’ of a similar combative mind-set.)
Trevor Wilcox has been involved in the martial arts since 1988, which have included training, teaching and competing. He holds instructorships in Hap Ki Do, Senshido, and Jeet Kune Do and currently resides in Hong Kong.
In addition to his formal training, Trevor has constantly studied and cross-trained in a variety of systems in order to improve his understanding of the totality of martial art and enhance his martial prowess. This includes Kickboxing, Freestyle Karate, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Brazilian Jiujitsu, Wing Chun, Jun Fan, Kali and Personal Defense Readiness.
In 2011, Trevor founded iCombatives.com, a digital journal dedicated to “reality-based martial arts (RBMA)”: functional martial art systems and tactics that are proven effective in real fight situations, be it the ring, the cage, the streets, or the battlefield. The vision was to unite RBMA practitioners through a common embracing of totality and adaptability. To Trevor, RBMA was about finding out what works in any context when someone is trying their best to dominate you within the parameters (or lack thereof) of that context and how you can adapt your skillsets accordingly.
To that end, in 2015 Trevor launched JEET-TAC, a company offering an approach to RBMA training primarily based on a blend of two preeminent combative systems, Senshido and Jeet Kune Do. Through JEET-TAC, Trevor offers personal training and workshops in Hong Kong and Southeast Asian region.
I was a student under Sifu Shawn King at KAMA King Academy of Martial Arts. He has been certified by guru Dan inosanto, Sifu Dan Anderson of Andersons martial arts NY, vitor shaolin ribeiro ny, Eric Jensen and founder sifu terry h. Gibson of Jensens martial arts,ok. These are practioners of Jun fan gung fu/jeet kune do concepts,Fma,Brazillian jiu jitsu,Silat, base wrestling, and Muay Thai kickboxing, western boxing. sifu no longer has a shop do to family business. I learned a lot but no longer have sifu. I’m definitely amateur and don’t want people thinking I’m something I’m not. I have no belts. No certification above level 2. I have trained with friends privately and I teach myself from books, videos and training partner when available. I’m still a beginner in my opinion cause the arts never end. I was recently given the honor to start staybladed Arkansas chapter and I will give it my all. I won’t be able to attend seminars or events until $ provides. I’m a single father on disability due to ptsd and $ can be scarce! I’m loyal and I appreciate this amazing opportunity. I love blades since I was a little kid and I never see that stopping.
I have been training in martial arts since I was a young boy and had the fortune to be born into a great family and community of martial artists. I am the 4th generation in my family to practice Filipino Martial Arts, and have been teaching classes and conducting seminars in fitness, self defense, street fighting, and traditional martial arts since 1992. My interests in psychology, philosophy, and martial arts has lead me to great insights into the human condition, an endeavor and pursuit my father Mangisursuro Mike Inay encouraged me to follow as a young boy, which I share on a daily basis with students and clients.
I’ve done security in Bern Switzerland for 4 year’s from 1996-2000. Fell in love with my first rattan stick in New Zealand when I was 20. Since then I’ve lived in 4 different countrys in the last 27 years as a humble student of FMA. Lover of everything bladed. Now Teaching FMA for disadvantage teenagers in koroit Victoria.
Japan * www.kalihimagsikan.com (in progress) Search my name or Kali Himagsikan page on FB * In my youth, I practiced Okinawan karate (Uechi-ryu) and judo in the Philippines. When I moved back to Japan, I got into some kendo, boxing, and then Krav Maga. I started kali jiujitsu at Shin Kali (following Vee Arnis system) and then Pekiti Tirsia where I became an instructor in both. When I left Shin Kali to start Kali Himagsikan I was a 3rd-dan and Mataas na Guro, respectively. I started this new group to extend my learning and training in various other FMA and MA, and go beyond some of the political issues holding back these goals, including the progress of my students.

Througout my 23 years in the martial arts I had the privilege of traveling around the U.S. and to over 25 countries, to some as a Christian missionary and some as a tourist. From the prisons of South Africa to the gang-lands of Costa Rica, from religious tension in Jerusalem to street savy New York City & L.A, I repeatedly saw the same need. Later working in security in the worst part of Denver and seeing friends and family in dangerous situtations, all culminated to stir my efforts to train myself to be the very best equipped. All of this and more built a desire in me to teach and share with others my many years of self defense training so they too can attain real confidence and safety.
